The children are learning that the deep ocean is a very interesting place to find out about! We watched the video, Blue Planet: A Natural history of the Oceans
The children are learning the term Bio luminescence which is a light produced by an organism using a chemical reaction. We are learning many creatures in the deep sea can make their own light.
Bacteria, jellyfish, starfish, clams, worms, crustaceans, squid, fish, and sharks are some of the groups of marine animals that have bio luminescent members.
We would like for the children to understand Bio luminescence provides a survival advantage in the darkness of the deep sea.
