How many pennies can our boats hold?

Remember a few weeks back, we built boats out of wood?  If not, the post is on our blog.  Well, we took the children’s interest in building boats and incorporated it into a science and math project! This time, we gave the children foil, and asked them to build a boat.   Once their boats were finished, we would put them in the water and see whose boat could hold the most pennies!

In the end, most of our boats could hold pennies, but no one could beat Kiersten!  Her boat held 40 pennies!

The children were given a worksheet to reflect on this experiment.  They recorded their results and wrote sentences on their hypothesis of why we had the outcomes that we did!
