An Openness to Materials

Children become fluent in materials with time and opportunity.  Their self-directed exploration is extended by their curiosity about, and openness to the potential of materials.  Children have ideas.  Their imaginations, previous experiences and questions help them to make connections, and create something new and original for them.

The children are always provided with a variety of materials for these purposes.  They are free to explore the materials, with the time they need, in order to create something………

The room is filled with their work.  This gives them pride in what they do, and shows we value who they are and what they make.
